Discuss the importance of product innovation with regards to the changing business environment?

I would say the answer regarding the impact of new products is Green, as in the environment. The U.S. is already sinking money into better fuel sources, less waste in land fills. To me it would be a sound idea to start off with a product that meets or exceeds guidelines, as opposed to spending money later to meet new guidelines which will most likely be on the horizon in the near future.
