Question about birth control?

I was taking tri sprintec for almost seven years. I recently started to spot andbhave breakthrough bleeding with the med so my doctor switched me to sprintec. I have been taking sprintec for a little over a week and I am still experiencing what seems to be a light period. Should I stop thebpill for a week and restart after the week is up or just continue to take my pill?
