BPE scores - how unhealthy are my gums?

When I'm at the hygienist she does the BPE check - says out a few 1s, maybe two 2s at most and then says my BPE score is 14 ..... admittedly this has come down from a score of 24 over the last year .... is this worryingly high? - she has me visit her for the check every 3 months now (over the last year instead of the usual 6 monthly check) but I'm receiving no other treatment from her for any bleeding/pain etc.. It's costly and I'd really like to go back to routine checks.
