What should I expect at my first Neurologist appointment?
Ok. I have very bad migraines and have had to be hospitalized. My wife has to go to the ER for hers due to hers being so bad she throws up as well and has to have an IV with both pain meds and phenegran to control the nausea. My wife is on the Amitriptalyne as well as a Propanolol. I have a really good Neurologist that treats mine and we had to try and try until we found a good combination that worked for me. If you feel like a mild one coming on, drink a cup of coffee with some lemon juice in it and take some regular aspirin. Sounds crazy, tastes bad, but works. The medication she has me on is called Midrin. My wife is on a quick melt tab called Maxalt. It is pretty expensive, but works for her. Try asking about them when you talk to the Neurologist. Migraines can be very debilitating at any given time. I understand where you are coming from. Your doctor may order a MRI or EEG of your brain to help in the diagnosis. Mostly, find a dark room and a set of earplugs. Mine get so bad I wanted to kick the cat for stomping in the mud across the street in the neighbor's yard(yes it seemed that loud from the throbbing)
